Division of Humanities

The division of humanities introduces students to the human heritage, awakening in them an understanding and appreciation of the contributions of the human race, as well as examining how the human experience is processed through literature, visual and performing arts, history, and communication. It brings into focus the intrinsic unity and universality of all people, sharing the creativity, richness, and embrace of God.

Academic Information

A basic education in the liberal arts prepares the student not only for the pursuit of higher studies and specialization, but also for life.

The College awards two degrees:

  • the Associate in Arts and
  • the Associate in Religious Arts.

Students can also earn a Certificate in Theological Studies.

Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication and technological skills by satisfactorily completing writings of various types, e.g. cause/effect, comparison/contrast, argument/persuasion, among others.

Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication and technological skills by learning and practicing the correct methods of researching, evaluating, and integrating source material effectively in writings across the curriculum.

Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication and technological skills by researching and formulating different types of speeches which are presented orally in class in order to gain fluency in language articulation and confidence in presentation before groups.

Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication and technological skills by integrating the disciplines of history, art, drama, music, and dance as means of communication and cultural understanding/enrichment.

Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication and technological skills by displaying acquired skills through assignments requiring the use of technology for satisfactory completion.

Examine and assess how an awareness of and respect for the viewpoints, cultures, and customs of all people contribute to the world community and broaden our horizons by realizing our connectedness to all peoples.
