Curricular Divisions

Division of Social Sciences

The division of social science, including education and psychology, studies the interrelationship of the human person with self, others, and the environment. It introduces the technology necessary for continued studies and develops strong communication skills. As noted below, our Division Goals are consistent with our Institutional Goals (IG). This cohesiveness ensures that this Division supports the mission of Assumption College.

  • Discover educational and technological skills needed to pursue deeper and broader knowledge of the world, culture and the individual (IG 1, 3, 5)
  • Identify application of course curriculum to specific cultures and ministries of the students (IG 1, 3, 5)
  • Encourage and organize opportunities for peer learning (IG 2, 3)
  • Develop leadership skills through

    a) Improved written and oral communication (IG 1, 2, 4)
    b) Greater facility in finding information through the use of technology (IG 2, 4)

  • Examine and assess how an awareness of and respect for the viewpoints, cultures and customs of all people contribute to the world community and broaden our horizons by realizing our connectedness to all peoples (IG 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
